Cardi B says her catalog is “still sellin’ like good quality pussy” while fans await the follow-up to Invasion of Privacy.
In a recent tweet, Cardi, whose debut studio album arrived back in 2018 and ultimately took home the Best Rap Album trophy at the 61st Grammys, reacted to word from the folks at Chart Data that she had just crossed half a million album units for the 2024 calendar year. To be clear, the tweet in question was not referring to a specific release from Cardi’s catalog. Still, Cardi seized the moment to remind fans that she does indeed have something new on the horizon.
“Album still sellin like good quality pussy ….OKAY OKAY let me stop playing and drop this second album,” Cardi wrote, as seen below.
While 2024 hasn’t given Cardi fans a new album, at least not yet, the year has seen the rollout of several singles and guest verses including “Enough (Miami),” which peaked at No. 9 on the Hot 100, and her Matthew McConaughey-referencing appearance on a remix to GloRilla and Megan Thee Stallion’s “Wanna Be.” More recently, headlines have continued to stack up in connection with Cardi and Offset’s split, as well as an official pregnancy announcement.
“With every ending comes a new beginning!” Cardi wrote in a pregnancy-confirming Instagram update in August.
As part of that new beginning, fans can expect Cardi’s Invasion of Privacy follow-up to arrive soon. Though neither a release date nor a title have been announced by Cardi or her time as of this writing, some recently spotted filings of the trademark variety provided some potential hints at what Cardi may be planning.
Speaking with Speedy Morman for Complex’s 360 earlier this year, Cardi was asked about her goals for the new album; specifically, what is she aiming to accomplish this time around? Per Cardi, the aim is to bring together “every type of record,” ranging from “emotional” songs to “poppin’ pussy” tracks.
