Meghan Markle has been at the center of many issues concerning the British royal family in the last few years. From her wedding to Prince Harry up until their withdrawal from royal responsibilities, Meghan was considered to be one of the most-talked-about royals.
In an interview with Newsweek, Sharon Osbourne spoke out about Meghan, who once again found herself the subject of a tirade. Sharon recently spoke about Meghan’s husband, Prince Harry, and expressed her desire for him to return to the United Kingdom and assume responsibility again as a true royal.
Sharon has been a fixture both in American and British media for quite some time already. Wed to the famous Black Sabbath vocalist Ozzy Osbourne, Sharon has also made her name in the industry as a prolific entertainment manager and television personality.
Sharon gained prominence when she and Ozzy tied the knot in Maui, Hawaii, on July 4, 1982. Since then, the two have been living a peaceful life together in the United States along with their three children – Aimee, who is an actress and singer, Kelly, who is a fashion designer and model, and their only son, Jack, who has traveled the world together with Ozzy on their short History channel series: “Ozzy & Jack’s World Detour.”
Aside from being a caring mom and wife to Ozzy, Sharon has also become a television personality loved by women in both the United States and her country, the United Kingdom.
In the US, she was a mainstay host of the daytime talk show series “The Talk”‘ for 11 seasons and a judge on “America’s Got Talent” from 2007 to 2012. But she likely appealed more to the people in her home country when she was a judge on the British version of “The X-Factor” for seven years.
Sharon’s views on the British royal family have been highly reported in the media. When Queen Elizabeth II passed away in September 2022, she was all praises to the late queen.
ITV News even reported that Sharon was seen queuing like any other person in the United Kingdom who wanted to pay their respects to the queen.
“I love the Queen and I came over for this because I’m a royalist and I love the royal family. No matter what would change in this country and, you know, everything changes in life but she never did. And it was just wonderful to have her,” she said.
But her commitment to the British royal family has stirred up reactions from both sides of the spectrum, especially with her statements urging Prince Harry to “come home” to the United Kingdom and reconnect with his brother Prince William and father, King Charles III.
Speaking to Extra in September 2022, Sharon recalled the time she saw how Prince Harry reunited with his brother during the funeral of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
“To see them walking side by side, it just brings back, oh my God, I look at Harry and think, ‘This is where you belong.’ The people really want you to come home, this is where you belong, being our prince,” Sharon told the publication.
However, Apost readers have differing opinions on Sharon’s call for Harry’s return.
“That’s easy for her to say, she’s a famous personality with no limitations on what she can or can not do. She has all the good things that go along with having money. but has no clue about the responsibilities he would have,” Kimberly Sannicolas shared.
But another reader agreed with Sharon.
“Well done Sharon my feelings too. Just hope his family can be nice,” reader Julie Leeson commented.
Meanwhile, Sharon has been very vocal about her stance on Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan. In the documentary, “Sharon Osbourne: To Hell and Back,” the British media personality affirmed her previous statements about Meghan.
In 2021, Sharon was permanently suspended from “The Talk” after a heated argument about racism with Sheryl Underwood because of discussions around the Duchess of Sussex.
At the time, Sharon was defending Piers Morgan’s honor, who had publicly revealed that he did not “believe a word” of anything that Meghan said during her shocking interview with Oprah Winfrey.
In July 2022, Sharon said in an interview with Morgan on his show, “Piers Morgan Uncensored” that Harry and Meghan were “lost” and “floundering” as the two struggled to understand what they would want to do after resigning from their posts from the royal family.
Speaking to Newsweek, Sharon doubled down on her views on Meghan and stood by her statements.
“I’ve never met her in my life. But she mixes with the royalty of showbiz, put it that way … I think that you have to be over a certain bank balance for her to talk to you,” she told the outlet.
Furthermore, Sharon elaborated on the reason for her indifference to Meghan.
“It’s all the wealthiest of the (wealthy) in the industry that she hangs out with. And there’s nothing wrong with that at all. God bless you. But she does tell some porky pies (lies). Put it this way, she’s surrounded by very, very, like how can I do this politely? It’s the cream of the cream in Hollywood music, film, everything she’s surrounded by,” she continued.
She then accused Meghan and her team of writing letters or sending texts to people that “say bad things about her” and stated, “She’s hardly a victim.”
