‘Just for some money’ – Gervonta Davis issues criticism to Mike Tyson in surprise U-turn over Jake Paul fight

Heavyweight legend Tyson returned in a money-spinning bout at 58 years old against YouTuber-turned-influencer Paul last month, but was beaten on points in a lacklustre display. The veteran looked a shell of himself, unable to unleash any trademark ferocious punching power, in a sad final bow.But he stood to earn at least $20 million from the event, which was a huge success commercially with more than 60 million people tuning in to watch the fight on streaming service Netflix.

Tyson is now unlikely to fight again

Many have levelled criticism regarding the fight at Paul, who was 31-years younger than Tyson at the age of 27.But Davis has surprisingly questioned the former undisputed champion, in a brutal assessment on the fight.

“Who told Mike Tyson to fight anyway?,” he said.”Yeah [it tarnished Mike’s legacy]. It definitelHe wrote in an Instagram post: “To the bozo that shared the ring with Mike, you a whole bozo for this and you didn’t get the job done s***head.”Davis then added: “You will always be a boxing legend, whether you like it or not.3Davis has changed his view on Tyson’s involvement in the fightCredit: Esther Lin/ Premier Boxing Champions”There will never be another one and I understand you so well.

“All this s**t that is happening now means nothing.”The event was a success, but Tyson’s sanctioned return landed short of the mark as he failed to light up the ring.Tyson landed just 18 of his 97 total punches thrown over the eight round distance, and showed visible signs of a total decline.
