Cardi B has opened up about how hurtful she finds some of the comments online. Celebrities have to deal with a whole lot of scrutiny. Some of it is fair criticism and other times it is just rude comments and trolling. Rapper Cardi B has admitted that despite her confident demeanor, sometimes the comments do get to her.
Speaking in an interview to the Rolling Stone magazine in May, Cardi said that some of the meanest comments have made her cry.
She said recently a comment someone left about her music on social media she really took to heart.
“Like yesterday, I was scrolling through TikTok and a b**** made me cry,” she admits during the interview.
“She was just like, ‘She has got to give it up. She’s better off being an influencer. You was cosplaying being a rapper. Because you don’t take it seriously. That’s why you don’t put out your music.’”
This comment seemed to both upset and frustrate the rapper who said she takes her job very seriously and doesn’t just put out stuff for the sake of it.
She continued: “And it’s like, I take my music so f****** seriously that that’s why I don’t put it out. Because if it’s not perfect to my ear, if every f****** word doesn’t sound like it’s pronounced right, if the beat is overpowering the words or the words is overpowering the beat, I don’t want to put it out.”
Whether you are fan of the rapper or not, it is always good to hear a music artist take their craft seriously. It is important to note that, while Cardi B is considered one of the big names in female rap, she has only released one studio album, 2018’s Invasion of Privacy.
The rapper has previously argued with her devoted fans about the status of her followup album. Each year since 2018, she has hinted that her second album is coming that year with some fans growing tired of waiting.
In March 1 this year, Cardi B said she was planning to release her next album this year only to get into a spat with a fan on X after a fan admitted they were skeptical.
“This is a big accomplishment for me, and of course here comes Bardigang complaining like Deum I can’t celebrate shit,” she replied.
“Anyway NO album this year I don’t care I’m relaxing.”
She would later delete these posts with her rep later confirming that dropping the album in 2024 is still the plan.
I guess the BardiGang fans will just have to wait with anticipation.
