Cardi B and Offset welcomed their second child this past September — and Selena Gomez made sure to shower the newborn with presents to mark the momentous occasion.
On October 5, as soon as she returned home from Paris Fashion Week, Cardi posted the massive basket of treats and trinkets Sel had sent her way for her baby boy. “I got this beautiful gift basket for son-son, with this little bear from Selena Gomez,” Cardi gleefully recounted in her video, showing off the presents.
Now, sending gifts for the newborn was more than a thoughtful gesture — but Selena also took things to the next level, making sure to include stuff for now-veteran mama Cardi. “It’s so cute and it’s got treats for me for when I’m rocking the baby to sleep at night… you know I get hungry in the nighttime. Thank you, Selena Gomez! You’re so adorable!” the “WAP” singer could be heard saying. (As noted by The Daily Mail, Cardi also received gifts from the likes of Lizzo, Mickey Guyton, and Jennifer Aniston for her son.)
As you might know, Selena and Cardi worked together in 2018 on the hit reggaeton song “Taki Taki,” alongside DJ Snake and Ozuna — and it appears the two have remained close since. Earlier this year, when Selena insinuated that she might be quitting music for good to focus on her acting career, Cardi took to Twitter to weigh in on the situation and show her support for the star. “I don’t think Selena should retire. She makes good music & her fans love her,” she tweeted in March. “I think she needs one more Era. An edgy one that no one ever seen her as. I would love to give her some ideas.”
We don’t know if Cardi’s advice had anything to do with it, but Selena later told Elle: “I don’t think I’ll ever quit making music. I’m not saying I want a Grammy. I just feel like I’m doing the best I can, and it’s all about me. Sometimes, that can really get to me.” (Well, she just scored her first Latin Grammy nomination so that statement might be subject to change!)
