According to the latest reports from Izquierdazo and legendary promoter Bob Arum, a historic fight is on the table: the teams of Canelo Álvarez and Artur Beterbiev are in talks for a mega-fight that is set to take place in May 2025.
If the deal goes through, Canelo will make history again as he moves up to 175 pounds, facing one of the most dangerous fighters in the division – Artur Beterbiev, who holds the WBC, IBF and WBO titles.
Notably, Beterbiev is unlikely to fight a rematch with Dmitry Bivol in order to save his energy for this potential fight. Meanwhile, Canelo – a four-division champion – has once again shown his ambition by not being afraid to challenge elite fighters in the heavier weight classes.
