For context, McGregor was accused of sexually assaulting Hand in a Dublin hotel in December 2018. After a lengthy court battle, a High Court jury named McGregor liable for the said assault and ordered him to pay Hand $259,000 in damages. Despite the verdict, ‘The Notorious’ has maintained his innocence and has vowed to appeal the court’s decision.

In a recent X post, he addressed the incident and the trouble he’s put his family through. Expressing regret over the incident that occurred six years ago, he wrote:

“People want to hear from me, I needed time. I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have never responded to her outreaches. I should have shut the party down. I should never have stepped out on the woman I love the most in the world…That’s it. No more. Getting back to the gym- the fight game awaits!”

Soon after McGregor issued his statement, fans flocked to the post’s comments section to express their thoughts.

One fan called the verdict a “farce” and wrote:

“Verdict was a farce and that’s clear to anyone who looks at the case objectively. How can a man as vilified as McGregor get an impartial jury for a trial of this nature? Trial by media. Praying for your successful return to silence more haters champ.”

“Please sober up.”
